end of term sad/happy face

I can't believe it's nearly over! Congrats to all the package winners and an extra huzzah to all my puffs for coming in first with House points!
I can't wait for the next term! I miss the classes, common room and students, Quidditch and everything else aleady.

and on unrelated side notes, I finished Neverwhere, which means I'm in great need of some book recommendations, so if anyone knows any that can hold me over until the next term starts...

and I've started a project with one of the gorgeous skeins Centy sent me in my package, it's the springtime in Philadelphia hat and I love it already
I had to stop cause I'm a few yards short of what he pattern called for but I found a store online that has the yarn so I should be done soon.

work can just wait...

Finally! after many restarts to admit and a lot and I mean A LOT of intense studying of other's works in progress and finished results and rereading all the advice I got...

I was so excited that I couldn't wait to make it the right length so I made it a normal headband(though now that I'm in the loop over what to do, I'm sure I'll make another one that can be worn in varying ways)

and an artsy shot of me in it, even though it's a little cut off, I wanted an "action" shot

and on a side note, I finished Pink Carnation slightly disappointed but now I can focus on Neverwhere which I've yet to hear anything bad about.

two weeks?!

Firstly, Ursula rocks!! she caught the snitch during the finale game last saturday and it's been a celebration ever since!! so excited! can't wait for the finale feast...
no wait! i can! cause that means the term is almost over and i don't want it to be!

an update...sort of

I must be the slowest Puff ever cause I'm still, yes still having yarn wrapping problems with my dream swatch. sigh. and I'm getting a little discouraged, even putting it to the side and picking up other projects. which I don't want to do and try to keep myself going by looking at everyone's finished work hoping it will make determined to figure this out.

Hufflepuff Quiz #6

Lucky Wistera...got some one on one time with the Professor. I think if he told me he was even slightly impressed by my work this term I'd turn to a puddle of melted jelly slugs.
But anywhoo! onto the quiz...

1) What is a Chimaera?
A very dangerous creature with a lion's head, a goat's body, and a dragon's tail.

2) Name 3 of the 4 breeds of Winged Horses.
Thestral, Abraxan, Aethonan, thestral and Granian,

3) What are Yeti afraid of?
Fire.

4) How does a wizard rid a farm of a Nogtail?
Chase it off with a pure white dog.

5) Why are Fwoopers sold with a silencing charm?
Because their Fwooper's singign will drive the listener insane.

6) Where are Erklings found?
Germany.

7) Name the only spell known to repel a Lethifold.
The always effective Patronus Charm.
(Bonus if you can name the wizard who survived a Lethifold attack)

a checklist of things to do...

okay, really only one thing is "need to do" which is this week's Defense Against the Dark Arts homework. I really want to do well this weeks seeing as I've become a bit of a nervous klutz around a certain professor...luckily I have the chocolate from my kit to keep me calm, will probably sneak a few bites in when the Professor's not looking.

other things..
finally finished Time Traveler's Wife...I cried, though I can't decide if I loved the book or want to slap a few of the characters...
Now onto reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman cause I noticed that I've been reading far too many Regency era books even for my obsessive love of them.

think I figured out the problem with my dream swatch head scarf(after reading other people's posts about it)I'm a tight knitting...like really tight.I'm always short on guge no matter what I do and this wrapping around the needle needs to be really loose, and my wraps just refuse to let go of the needle and when they do I let too much go and lose all the loops.
Will try again, and continue to try and find some kind of tutorial that will get me out of my "tigh knitting conundrum"

the PERFECT most AWESOMEST CentyB!!

So while I was sitting on my bed, struggling through my zillionth time re-casting on for the dream swatch head scarf, a lovely owl came tapping on my window!
What sis he have you may ask? Just the most amazing package that cheered me up and will continue to put a smile on my face for weeks to come!!
Picture time!!

Don't worry, I gave him some tasty cupcakes before sending him home!
The note that came with it

Everything laid out...

Silly me,I took a picture of the one package on the wrong side...this is what it said

This is gonna gets a lot of play time at the next Quidditch match! It's currently hanging in my dorm.

But what was in those wrapped packages?

Well...more pretty yarn! that's what! And the cutest sock pattern!(which I realize now is impossible to see in the picture)

And the other one? more wrapped gifts?!? And look at the cloth!

tapsetry needles, a measuring tape that looks like a sheep(CUTE!) jelly beans(LOVE!) and chocolate to combat boggarts!(EXTRA LOVE!)

One more pic accompanied by a happy dance? OKAY!

There's so much awesome, I had to lay it out on the floor and take a pic standing on my bed!

So in case you couldn't tell, CentyB is officially the coolest person at Hogwarts!

off to a "meh" start

So I cast on for the Dream Swatch earlier today and I remembered why I put this project on hold the first time I tried to make it...

"Row 6 (WS): *Slip 6 stitches with yarn in front
dropping all extra wraps, thus forming 6 long
stitches on the right-hand needle. Then, insert the
left-hand needle into the first 3 of these 6 stitches
and pass them over the second 3. Return all
stitches to the left-hand needle and purl the 6
stitches in the crossed order, the second 3 first,
and the original 3 next. Repeat from * on each
group of 6 stitches."

I've re-cast on several times(btw, I'm making it half as wide cause I have a small head) and each time I mess this part(the most important part) up.
yeah...it seems so simple, which is why I'm kinda frustrated that mine isn't coming out right. So if anyone can tell what I'm doing wrong,or knows another way to get the same results, please let me know.

Procrastipuff!!

so the KAL is starting tomorrow and like the procrastipuff I am(I just made up a new word, procrastinating hufflepuff! yeah, that will never catch on) but I can't decide between not two but five yarns to choose from! What? How is that possible? Well, I really love the feel of bamboo yarn and kinda collect it without actually having anything to use it for so it just sits around in my stash being pretty and touchable. Though two of the yarns I think are cotton and something else blend...
I know, no labels? yeah, i kinda paw my yarn and the label gets in the way sometimes and I always forget to stick it in the yarn so I know what it is, but they're all light weight and bamboo, except the two on the left, those are cotton.

I was thinking yellow(Puff pride and all) but green is my favorite color(it's not as dark as the picture looks, though I have nothing to wear to match it when I finish it) the one on the far right is actually a lot more turioise than it looks and I don't really have much blue in my wardrobe but I really love how those feel(except maybe the one on the far left...it's kinda an odd color combo..blue..ok..purple..goes with blue..green? why's that there?)
I'm gonna narrow it down within the next few hours,I promise...

p.s.OMG! does anyone watch Doctor Who? Please say yes,I've been in freak out CAPS LOCK mode ever since, well yesterday,GAH! this show is why I missed the common room chat yesterday...okay, sorry, gotta choose a yarn!

Now to find where all the owls went to...

I haven't had much of a chance to post because I've been finishing up on my spoilee's package! yay!
Hopefully I can get to a post office within the next few days seeing as most of the owls here are off delivering other people's packages.

Now to focus on revisions...oh wait I forgot,I joined the Hufflepuff KAL
yet another reason to push those schoolbooks aside...
